Six Things to Do Under $10 This Weekend

6. Flaunt Presents Gravel Kings
10 p.m., Thursday, June 19. Respectable Street, 518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach. 21and older. No cover. Visit Facebook.
With it being Best of season around here, it’s good to note the continuing success of some of our past winners. You can start this weekend off early with Flaunt, the indie party, voted New Times‘ Best Nightlife Party in 2012, that keeps on giving. The night’s headlining act is South Florida roots foursome Gravel Kings. The band is working on their first full album out next month on Decades Records.

DJ Marvelous Kendall, JJ Contramus, and OZwaldus will contribute to the party feel with their sonic skills while $2 PBRs ($1 before 11 p.m.) and $3 Flaunt shots will help those hesitant feet to fly. Gravel Kings will play another gig this Saturday at Inkwell Pub with Shotgun Betty and Thieves are Watching, so you have no excuse to not check them out now.

7 “Cool Dad” Things to Do This Weekend

Father’s Day is this weekend, and we can’t ignore one obvious fact: Moms are so much easier to shop for. With stores pushing handyman products and fishing gear in your face, it’s frustrating because hey, not all fathers are into repairing stuff or sitting on a boat all day holding a still rod. Some dads are, well, cool.

5. Steady Freddy at Cafe 27 in Weston

7 p.m., Thursday, April 10, at Cafe 27, 4690 U.S. Highway 27, Weston. Visit Facebook. No cover.

The guys of Steady Freddy want you to make every day a “Steady Freddy day.” And you can oblige their request tonight in Weston. They’re promising to “rock your face off,” and we can’t think of a better invitation to party than that, except maybe that paired with Cafe 27’s claim that it’s “the last cafe on the edge of civilization.” Bring your hog out for a run too for a rowdy outlaw jam.
